Producing Knowledge with Intelligent Data Mining Methodology

Abstract: Data mining methodology (DMM) aims to extract useful information and discover some hidden patterns from huge amount of databases, which statistical approaches cannot discover. It is a multidisciplinary field of research includes: machine learning, databases, statistics, expert systems, visualization, high performance computing, rough sets, neural networks, and knowledge representation, etc. Data mining is supported by a host that captures the character of data in several different ways (e.g. clustering, classification, link analysis, summarization, regression models, and sequence analysis).
Recently, DMM and knowledge engineering paradigms have become more widespread within the fields of healthcare, commerce, business, biology and medical sciences. Developing of smart data mining systems in these fields is very difficult and complex from the technological perspective and a challenging task. In this talk we focus our discussion around the most efficient knowledge discovery and machine learning techniques used in developing such systems. In addition, the talk presents some examples of the developed systems by the author and his colleagues at AIKER-Labs for mining patient data to determine thrombosis disease and risk management in banking sector are discussed.
Biography: Abdel-Badeeh M. Salem is a full Professor of Computer Science since 1989 at Ain Shams University, Egypt. His research includes biomedical informatics, big data analytics, intelligent education and learning systems, information mining, knowledge engineering and Biometrics. Founder of the Artificial Intelligence and Knowledge Engineering Research Labs, Ain Sham University, Egypt& Chairman of Working Group on Bio-Medical Informatics, ISfTeH, Belgium He has published around 550 papers (103 of them in Scopus). He has been involved in more than 600 Int.Confs and Workshops as; a keynote and plenary speaker, member of Program Committees, Workshop/ Session organizer, Session Chair and Tutorials. In addition he was a member of many Int societies. In addition he is a member of the Editorial Board of 50 Int and national Journals. Also, He is member of many Int. Scientific Societies and associations, elected member of Euro Mediterranean Academy of Arts and Sciences, Greece. Member of Alma Mater Europaea of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, Belgrade and European Academy of Sciences and Arts, Austria.
